    Shit Show

If you have been watching any media outlet, you must be wondering is this really happening. I know the past almost eleven months I have witnessed nothing more than a shit show. I cannot think of a better term to call it. Amid a national health crisis name COVID-19 (pandemic), social injustice, economic hardship, racial tension, tremendous grief, loss, we have been forced to adjust to being isolated, working from home, and in many cases be teachers. Rather you are a bystander, participant, or observer we all are being impacted in some way by this shit show that is going on in our country.

If you have been feeling “off” or unbalanced in your life, it is important that you don’t beat yourself up about it. You have to respect your resilience in this moment in time of uncertainty. Trust me, I know you have been doing your best under these extreme circumstances/shit show. It’s okay if you haven’t been able to get motivated to follow through on your goals, dealing with depression symptoms, or feeling more anxious than previously.

So, how are you supposed to manage your life during this time of uncertainty? Here are a few things that I recommend doing to help keep yourself balanced.

Here’s A Few Tips to Help

    • Make a commitment to yourself to not be an active participant in the shit show. If the best thing you can offer is to not contribute to the problem, you are doing enough.
    • While, its important to be aware of what is happening in our country, overindulgence leads to increased anxiety, stress, and fear. So, set boundaries on your daily time on any media outlet (including social media if needed). It’s important to not consume your day with watching the extremity of any media.
    • Allow a space for creativity to occur, creating a space means removing distractions. If you are constantly in a state of task completion, you don’t leave room for free thought, which is where creativity happens.
    • If you choose to get involved in the shit show, make sure you are clear on your intentions. Are you seeking to be heard, disrupt, change, advocate, or resolve the challenges? Whatever, your intentions are self-check to make sure your true intentions align with your behaviors and that you are not being consumed by it.
    • One of the best things any us of can do is make sure that if we realize we are going about things wrong, we change the behavior. There is a higher vibration of peace that comes with acceptance of mistakes. There is no need to torment yourself for past or current mistakes, just recommit yourself to changing and being the best version of yourself today.
